Below is a list of the equipment I currently use and sincerely recommend when one goes exploring lost places or while photographing in general.
- Nikon Z5: The camera I almost exclusively use now. The Z5 is currently the cheapest full frame mirrorless camera by Nikon. It offers many useful features: 24.3 Megapixels; 273 Measurement Fields; photos in 6K and video in 4K resolution; weighs just 820 grams; double memory card slots; a digital viewfiender and a touch screen display.
- Nikon D5000: My backup camera. Even with a relatively old (and compared to new cameras very cheap) DSLR it’s possible to shoot great photos!
- Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-85mm f3,5-5,6G ED VR: All-rounder wide-angle to zoom lens, very useful and my go-to in most situations.
- Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G: Solid fixed focal length lens for close-ups or portraits.
- K&F Concept Tripod 163cm: This tripod is relatively cheap and offers great value, although there definitely are lighter – and way pricier – versions which you should consider when you often have to carry it for a long period of time.
- K&F Concept ND Filter 67mm: A cheap, adjustable neutral density filter that can be useful for landscape and architecture photography.
- LedLenser P7 QC: At least one flashlight (and several spare batteries) is a must have when you go exploring abandoned places. This one not only lasts very long, it also has green, red and blue colored light which can be particularly useful to integrate into photos.
- LedLenser NEO4: A headlamp can also be very useful when exploring dark places (especially at night or underground). You can also use it instead of a flash while photographing.
- K&F Concept Camera Backpack: A big backpack that fits all of my equipment and even leaves a little bit of space for other stuff. The zip opening on the side is especially useful for quick camera access.
- Rollei Camera Cleaning Kit: This compact travel kit has everything to offer what you need when you suddenly have to clean dust off of your lens.
- First Aid Travel Kit: Self explanatory. Don’t go into an abandoned building without one of these in your backpack.
- SanDisk Extreme Pro SDXC 64GB: A few spare memory cards never hurt when you’re on the road all day. I recommend 128 or 256 GB if you plan to shoot in 6K/8K quality and RAW format.
